1. More efficient heat dissipation to prevent engine overheating
The VAG Auxiliary Cooling Water Pump provides additional coolant flow power on the basis of the main water pump to ensure that sufficient cooling effect can be maintained under low speed, idle or high load conditions (such as turbocharging, intense driving). After the engine is turned off, the auxiliary water pump can continue to run, taking away the residual heat in the turbine and cylinder body, avoiding heat retention and protecting key components.
2. Improve engine power response and fuel economy
The engine burns more fully at the optimal operating temperature. The auxiliary water pump helps maintain this temperature range, reduces fuel waste during cold start, and improves power output. High temperature may cause knocking. The additional cooling capacity of the auxiliary water pump can reduce the temperature in the cylinder, so that the ECU does not need to excessively delay the ignition timing, thereby maintaining power performance.
3. Extend the life of the engine and turbocharger
Continuous and efficient cooling can reduce thermal fatigue of metal parts of the engine (such as cylinder, piston, valve) and extend service life. The temperature of the turbine is extremely high when it is running at high speed. The auxiliary water pump can continue to cool the turbine bearing after the car stops to prevent the carbonization of the engine oil and avoid damage to the turbine.
4. Improve the performance of air conditioning and cabin heating
During cold start, the auxiliary water pump can accelerate the flow of coolant to the heater core, so that the warm air in the car takes effect faster and improves winter comfort. In some models, the auxiliary water pump also participates in the cooling of the air conditioning condenser to prevent the cooling efficiency from decreasing in hot weather.
5. Adapt to harsh driving conditions
At continuous high speed, the auxiliary water pump can supplement the cooling capacity of the main water pump to avoid power limitation caused by soaring water temperature. When vehicles equipped with automatic start-stop function are frequently shut down, the auxiliary water pump can maintain the flow of coolant to prevent local overheating.
6. Compatible with hybrid and electrification trends
In plug-in hybrid or 48V mild hybrid systems, the internal combustion engine may work intermittently, and the auxiliary water pump can run independently of the engine to ensure seamless temperature management.
